Trail Name: Arbois Pedestre-Vignoble et Revermont

Trail Type: A mid-distance hiking circuit; grass, dirt trail, and paved in built-up areas.

Length: Total: 16.5 km

Convenient to: Besancon, Jura, France

Marking: None trail-specific observed, however yellow signs indicate directions to various waypoints.

Trail Description: Hike through fields and hilltop forests, timeless villages and vineyards, while enjoying expansive views. The views come at a cost though: a steep uphill section about a kilometer long. Otherwise, the trail is a mix of ups and downs, rough and smooth walking, and considerable opportunities for tasting!

Trailhead: Arbois (Trail developers suggest the rail station)

Parking Possibilities: (All located only a few meters from the trail)

Champ de Mars, Arbois (Preferred as it is central, large, and allows overnight parking. However: closes on market day)

Rue de l’Hotel de Ville, by St Just church, Arbois

Rue de la Piscine, Arbois-Mesnay (Could be crowded in summer)

Bus: Not practical for this circuit

               Arbois: Champ de Mars, Avenue du Marechal Leclerc, Rue de la Piscine, Rue du Ruisseau, Les Pommerets, Rail underpass, L’Abreuvoir, Rail underpass, D107E/La Colombiere signs, right uphill, Rail underpass, Viaduct of Montigny; Montigny/Quartier de St Laurent, Fontaine de l’Abbaye, Montigny/Quartier de L’Eglise, Les Corvees, Changin; Arbois: Rue du Pre Vercel, bridge, then left onto Rue Pointelin, Chemin de la Platiere, cross Rue de l’Hotel de Ville, Rue de Faramand, bridge, Champ de Mars.

Alternative Options:

                Walking: The circuit narrows in on itself at La Colombiere, from where you can follow downhill to Arbois, to shorten the hike.

                Biking: VTT (mountain bike) routes 10 and 12, cover large parts of this circuit, and are marked.

                Car: The Route des Vins du Jura, covers Arbois and much more.

Suggest wearing hiking boots as the trail can be muddy and uneven in places.
