Many biking or hiking trails now have GPS tracks, downloadable for free. However, if you want to have a bigger picture of the area, and what is available, the following map series provide good coverage in a number of countries:
Kompass Map Series: covers hiking, biking, and sometimes cross country skiing, routes. Has a detailed map and explanation of local area for each area in a handy plastic cover. Good detail and scale. Booksellers online often offer new and used ones for sale.
Bikeline Radtourenbuch: offered by the publishers at www.esterbauer.com , offer detailed biking route maps, explanations and photos of sights along the way, all in a handy little book format. The link above also offers downloadable GPS-Tracks for a fee.
Bielefelder Rad maps (symbol: BVA): offered by the publishers at http://www.bva-bielefeld.de/produktkatalog/radwanderkarten also do a nice job detailing biking route maps and explanations.
