Trail Description: An easy circuit trail through a variety of landscapes, from wooded, to field, to vineyard, with delightful scenic overlooks, and benches.

Trailhead: Bismarckturm, Waldeck 1, Ingelheim

Public Transportation Options:

Rail: Very convenient Deutsche Bahn (DB) local train service, north to south, connecting Koblenz with Mainz, which stops as well at some towns in the famous “Mittel Rhein” area.

Attractions on or near Trail:

Kaiserpfalz Imperial Villa: Francois Lachenal Platz, 5, Ingelheim am Rhein. From here Charlemagne noted that a slope, always clear first of snow, would be a good place to plant vines.)

Tasting along the Trail:

Wine taverns on the trail; in nearby towns, there is the Weingut Pfeiffer, (Gau-Algesheim); and Vinothek Wasem, (Sonnenhang and Pares wines), and Weingut Neus, (Pares u. Horn wines), both in Ingelheim

Alternative Options:

Biking: The 164-kilometer Hiwwelroute, connects Bingen to Mainz (approximately 45 kilometers) and beyond. While some of the trail follows the river from Bingen, it does circle out to include Ingelheim and wine country, before regaining the river zone heading toward Mainz.
