Trail Description:

A nice alternative to the famous, long-distance trail, the Main Cycle Route (Main Radweg), the Geniesser Tour is ideal for those who want to cycle the central Main region, but have neither the time, nor the support vehicle! It is a nice itinerary upriver and downriver on the eastern side of the Maindreieck wine zone. Because of some inclines, it is moderately more challenging than the Main Cycle Route, but provides a great opportunity to see more of the vineyards and countryside. Passing along many vineyards, the “Geniesser” (Gourmet or Enjoyment) aspect of this trail is both apparent and enjoyable in the wine villages with their wineries, charming wine taverns and excellent restaurants.

Comments:

An alternative to the Dettelbach start point could be in Kitzingen, from the large, unimproved parking area on the southern end of Bleichwasen.

The inclines are gentle, and most of the route is vehicle-free, making this a good route for families with tweens (ie: experienced enough to do the distance).
